What are the benefits of undergoing Orthodontic Treatment?

OVERALL APPEARANCE:

People are often very self-conscious by the way they smile. When teeth are aligned it enhances our self esteem which is important in many social and professional circumstances.

ORAL HYGIENE/CLEANING OF TEETH:

As important as our overall appearance, orthodontics is beyond the aesthetics. Teeth that are crowded are often difficult for daily routine cleaning and flossing. Inadequate cleaning are major factors in tooth decay and periodontal disease due to the buildup of plaque and calculus and unhealthy gums. When teeth have good alignment they help enhance an individual’s oral hygiene as it is much easier to brush, clean and floss!

CHEWING/OCCLUSION:

The occlusion refers to the meeting of the Upper and Lower teeth during chewing or when the jaws are closed – also commonly known as the ‘Bite’. The proper alignment of teeth will promote proper and thorough chewing of food and can avoid problems such as unnecessary wearing and grinding. A Bad Bite may lead to more serious problems such as TMJ (temporomandibular joint).

At Clemton Park Dental we are able to help you plan the best Orthodontic Treatment for YOU. Our dentist’s here have many years of experience in the field of Orthodontics in particular Dr Wendy Cui. She treats both children and adults of all ages.

In Clemton Park Dental we offer different types of Orthodontic Treatment.

What is the right age for braces

Children

the first assessment for orthodontic intervention should be around the 8 years of age. An assessment of the development of the bone pattern and teeth pattern are usually done to ensure the child's upper and lower jaws are developing at the right position. we also check of any undesirable habits that can impede the growth and development of the upper and lower jaw.

Adults - no age limit on orthodontic intervention.

Conventional Braces

This is the most efficient and accurate way to align teeth. Conventional Braces is suitable for all individuals, from children, young adolescents to matured adults. They consist of individual brackets, bands and archwires placed to align teeth into the correct position.

There are two types of conventional braces, it may be metal or ceramic. ASK us about what options you have and which one is most suitable for you!

Clear Aligners - INVISALIGN

Invisalign is a clear alternative to braces.

It is the modern approach to teeth straightening without brackets or wires and is virtually invisible. Invisalign utilises a series of custom made; clear, removable aligners that gradually shift your teeth towards the smile you’ve always wanted.
